Grape Varietals: 96% Tempranillo, 4% Garnacha
Growing Region: Rioja, Northern Spain
Owner / Director: Cristina Forner

It has been a few years now since I was last in the wine region of Rioja where the fruit for this Rosado / Rosé wine was sourced. The selected fruit parcels which were hand-picked separately - were grown on gentle slopes in Cenicero and in Rioja Alavesa. The hardy vines which seem to thrive in theses testing conditions are a mixture of 15-20 years of age and grown at different altitudes in mainly clay and limestone soils.

As the ripe grapes came into the winery in their baskets, the Tempranillo and Garnacha parcels were vinified separately. They were de-stemmed, crushed and having only a short period of skin contact of between 8-10 hours to achieve this vivid coral salmon colour in the juice. Fermentation then took place at a temperature of 16-18ºC. To retain the natural vibrancy, the lifted flavours and it’s refreshing mouth feel. The wine stabilised by cold treatment to prevent malolactic fermentation. This results in greater freshness and maintains the wine’s natural vitality. This lively wine was then allowed to rest in stainless steel tanks for a short period of time - before being bottled just a few months after harvest.
The winemaking team of Ramón Veiga and Emilio González have again respected and expressed the lively personality and flavours of these traditional red varietals.
As you pour this Rosé wine into your glass you will be greeted by a vivid salmon pink colour that will shine. On the nose you will find aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, cranberries and wild herbal notes.
The wines impressive and fragrant bouquet or red berries, and fresh herbs carry through on to the racy palate. The palate is delicious, combining the vivid flavours of red cherries, fennel, strawberries, citrus notes and freshly ripped wild floral herbs. Made is a classic dry style, this Rosé is approachable and very appealing crafted in a new world style with lifted summer flavours. The wines vibrant red fruits, retained brilliantly crisp acidity giving this wine elegance, balance the and an ever so refreshing lingering finish.
