Grape Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
Growing Region: Nelson, New Zealand
Owner / Winemaker: Patrick Stowe

Patrick planted the home vineyard at Rimu Grove in 1995, and it comprises 7 hectares of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris vines. Which are laid out on the gentle north facing slope of the Bronte Peninsula overlooking the stunning Waimea inlet in Nelson. The passionate team at Rimu Grove are committed to producing only the finest quality wines which reflect the terroir of the Nelson Moutere wine-growing region.

The philosophy of Patrick starts with an uncompromising attitude, that can be seen from the meticulous management of both the carefully tendered vineyards and the respectful vinification of his wines. And over the past 21 years, this philosophy has never wavered. The vineyards are painstakingly managed by hand and this attention to detail produces grapes with a fine balance of varietal flavours, palate textures and inviting aromas. The fruit and wines are handled with the utmost care to retain and express those delicate characters.
Once the Pinot Noir parcels were deemed ideal for crafting a rosé style wine. After harvesting and a short journey up to the winery. The fruit was destemmed and underwent a cold soaking (i.e. the juice was left on its skins) for approximately 3-4 hours. To extract subtle colours, aromas and flavours from the skins. Then the fruit was gently ‘champagne’ style pressed to avoid extracting harsh tannins and other undesirables. The juice was then cool fermented in a stainless steel tank and was left on its own lees for about 4 months and was then bottled in September ready for summer.
As you pour this wine into your glass you will be greeted by a salmon coral colour and a bright shining hue. As you lift your glass this rosé wine boasts aromas of freshly cut pink watermelon and wild small strawberries. This rosé is made in a refreshing virtually dry style, with less than 2g/l of residual sugar. The palate is vibrant, crisp and engaging, with lifted flavours of wild raspberries, strawberries, watermelon and pink grapefruit, along with sublet notes of spice which linger. This rosé wine is so approachable and appealing with a clean crisp finish, which leaves your senses wanting more.
This 2016 Rimu Grove ‘Bronte’ Pinot Rosé has 12.5% Alc. Chill gently and serve in an aromatic glass at 8-10°C.
